Time Doesn’t Feel Guilty

I’ve heard many smart statements throughout the years, such as: ‘If you’re the smartest person in the room, you’re in the wrong room,’ or ‘Be the smartest person in the room.’ You might have heard many wise sayings, especially if you’re active on social media – even the dumbest people seem to be the smartest there.

This year, you might have many goals, dreams, and desires you want to achieve. You might listen to many wise people on social media about their plans and goals, which can be inspiring. For me, it often left me feeling guilty and pressured.

So here’s a new piece of advice for this year: IGNORE THOSE PIECES OF ADVICE!

Stay thankful and grateful. I’ve listened to and read advice every year, and I wish I had followed it and applied it to my life. But most of it has left me feeling guilty, and time doesn’t feel guilty to move on, so why should I? If you’re an achiever, be the one you are supposed to be, but don’t forget the ancient scriptures that keep commanding us to be grateful.

If someone asks you about your New Year’s resolution or your goals for this year, answer them by saying, “To be thankful.” They might ask why, so tell them, “I will achieve much more by being thankful than by stressing out.” If you’re going after many disciplines, make sure you go after this spiritual discipline too.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” – Philippians 4:6

Learn from your past and be grateful that the new year has brought some new opportunities. Being thankful will help you on this journey. Don’t let the past years take hold of you, but with Thanksgiving, move forward.

Who do you want to be this year? I want to be the most thankful person in the room!
