Finding Significance Together

Young people always seem to rebel against old traditions. However, it has now become a tradition in itself to consider young people rebellious and representative of a new or modern era.

They sometimes forget that those who came before them thought the same things and that they are products of those beliefs. Questions like, “What can I do to change the world? What can I do differently from my parents? What can I do to become significant?” run through their minds, often without conscious awareness, because they believe they are too young to consider such deep questions.

But what if young people submitted to their elders, and elders, in turn, strove to understand the young? Together, they could build something beautiful and lasting.

Laughing together, working together, weeping together, celebrating together, planning together, and each one serving the other—through these actions, the question of significance would be answered, even without words. Doing life together and growing together is truly significant. So be significant; do not let rebelliousness take over, and do not let familiarity prevent you from achieving significance.
